Photographer #226: Christian Chaize

Christian Chaize, 1960, France, has had a career as a commercial photographer for the past 20 years. Since 2004 he has become obsessed with a small strip of coastline in southern Portugal. This was a new start for his on-going personal work and has taken precedence over his professional ambitions. In the series Praia Piquinia he focused on one secluded beach front and photographed throughout the years with a large format camera from the exact same spot at the same elevated angle. The results show the variables as light, weather, the ocean and the people on the beach. The following images come from the series Praia Piquinia, To Praia Grande and Paradis.

Christian Kettiger, 1962, Switzerland, is a beauty and portrait photographer. Christian got into photography after seeing the work of Guy Bourdin in Zoom Magazine. He has worked for clients as La Roche-Posay and Pantene. Besides his commercial work he also makes personal work. He went to  Gibsonton, a town in Florida that is known for the circus people or "freaks" that spend the off-season there. Photographer #128: Christian Tagliavini

Swiss/Italian photographer Christian Tagliavini, 1971, presented his new series to the world only a few days ago. The series 1503 are nine still characters from a visionary renaissance. They are portrayed in solemn, die-cut costumes. In 2008 he made his the series Dame di Cartone (Cardboard Ladies). Costumes from different era's were made with cardboard and shot with live models. In the proces of making a photograph Christian is not merely the photographer, he is in fact the author, stage- and costume-designer, casting manager and director all at the same time. The following images come from the brand new series 1503, Dame di Cartone and Aspettando Freud (Waiting for Freud).

Christian Lamontagne, Canada, 1978, is a photographer and also works on various video productions. He has covered various stories across the globe. His reportage style of photography comes with a twist through his use of artificial lighting. The following images come from his series Sahel, sous la menace du desert. Photographs on the climate change and the effects on the Nomads of Senegal.

The series Imperial Valley are portraits of the inhabitants in the apocalyptic looking region around the Salton Sea.
